Mixing electricity and water isn’t a practice that we’d normally advise, but in the case of a series of light fixtures designed by Miriam Aust, the two are paired to stunning mad-scientist effect. In Aust’s pendant light turned vase, she fits a light bulb into an airtight beaker surrounded by a hand-blown glass cylinder. Inside the glass cylinder, owners are left to use their imaginations, filling the the body of the vessel with hydroponic plants or cut stems.
